Cactus- Gymnocalycium ragonesei| mature plant (2.75” pot)

Gymnocalycium ragonesei—whose genus name means "naked calyx" for its hairless floral tube and whose species honors Argentine botanist Arturo Enrique Ragonese—is the smallest and most unusual member of its genus, a tiny, flattened, stone-like globe with nearly spineless, faintly grooved ribs. What makes it special is its almost completely spineless, smooth, brownish-green body that resembles a round rock, topped by disproportionately large creamy-white flowers with a faint reddish throat that can stay open for up to twelve days.
